The Drawing represents the recent unfortunate Affair at Manzanillo, when the Spanish Troops experienced one of the most serious reverses of the protracted campaign. Lured into a cleverly planned ambuscade, the cavalry, smoking cigarettes, and unconscious of danger, rode into a veritable death-trap.
