Adelboden is a large village beautifully situated above the engstligenbach with a fine view of the chain of the Lohner and Wildstrubel.  Its height is 4,450 ft. and it is much frequented as a health and summer resort.  It possesses some remarkable timber houses and an old church with mediaeval frescoes on its outer walls.  It is also famous for a maple tree of great age.  These pictures were taken by M. B. Heath.
