In this picture Mr. Cull has presented in Diagrammatic form the very obvious fact that the chief point of Naval interest for this country has shifted from the Channel to the North Sea, so that in many ways the "Channel" Fleet is an anachronism. In stating this it is quite unnecessary to adopt an antagonistic attitude, but the fact that the German Navy is growing rapidly while that of France remains stationary (Added to the fact that we have now an understanding with France) shows that the place where our fleet should mainly be located is on the east and not on the south coast. This is the reason why during the past year or two our fleet has been making various trips in the North Sea, and a week or two ago visited Aberdeen for the first time for thirty-three years. There are some splendid anchorages on the east coast, while the fleet has ventured even as far north as Shetland. This suject has been dealt with from time to time by our daily contemporary, "The Standard," reference being made to it in last Thursday's issue.
