The Merveilleuses were feminine dandies who made a great sensation in France in the times of the Terror. They form the subject of the elaborate comic opera which M. Sardou and Dr. Hugo Felix wrote for Daly's Theatre. In this picture Mr. Partridge shows us the chief of the Merveilleuses (Miss Evie Greene, in the centre) surrounded by her sister belles.
