For Sale is a Full Page taken from "The Sphere," February 23rd, 1907, called "The Gaiety of the Carnival in Paris," showing "A Scene drawn by F. Matania."
Signor Matania passed through Paris on the last day of the carnival, and gives his impressions of the scene in this picture. It is said that there is a distinct decadence in the carnival. Be that as it may, there was an unusually heavy list of crime connected with it this year. The police found two corpses in the street, three men shot or stabbed and on the point of dying, and two persons who had committed suicide, making a total of seven victims for the first night of the carnival.
