Although Mr. John Redmond - whom the Government's Irish measure has brought into great prominence-is only fifty-one he has been a member of the House of Commons for fully twenty-six years. Previously he was a clerk in the Vote Office of the House. His father sat in Parliament, and his brother is the well-known member for East Clare. Mr. Redmond has been called to the English as well as the Irish Bar. He is a very able Parliamentarian, assiduous in attention, a good party bargainer, and an effective orator. Personally he is popular in all quarters of the House. He led the small group of Parnellites after the death of their chief, and has been leader of the reunited party since 1900.
