    a- Jackson Ives (Mr. Allan Aynesworth) discusses with Stephen Baird (Mr. Kenneth Douglas) the conditions under which the development of the Sky Rocket Mine has been stopped, and it is likely to be seized by the mortgagee.  Ives offers notes for the amount needed without at first telling Baird that they are forged.
    b- In Baird's offices at 22 Wall-street the morning after his exhibition of a sheaf of forged thousand dollar bills.  There is a great rush of his friends for shares, and his protests as to the uncertainty of the investment notwithstanding, he is obliged to receive cheque after cheque.  The visitors are very much in the way, as he is waiting for news of the mine and possible visits from the police, who are following up Ives.
    c- Captain West (Mr. Franklyn Roberts), of the Secret Service, who has arrested, and been compelled to release, Ives and Baird on the suspicion of forgery-not being able to discover the notes-visits Baird in his office, to be again deluded by the devices and diplomacy of the really criminal Ives, whose escape is, however, so narrow that he forthwith reforms.
