   a- Winter mountaineering of ski requires perfect physical condition.  There is no finer training for "wind" and muscle than that of hockey on the magnificent ice-rink in the shadow of Mont Blanc.
   b- An expert ski-man making tracks uphill-the snow is here seen in perfect condition. Hours may be taken in the ascent of the Dome above Le Planet-the descent is made in scarcely more than as many minutes.
   c- The "Flying Corner" at Grindelwald.- a bob-sleigh party entering the "straight." This sport is more dangerous than that of winter mountaineering, unless each member of the party is an expert. These special courses are appropriately "banked" for the highest speeds.
   d- A picturesque corner.- This scene is typical of the splendid bob-sleigh run from Le Planet Hotel to the Chamonix Valley, near Argentieres.
   e- Waiting for the signal to start.- A bob-sleigh party in the Engadine.
