For Sale is a Portrait Picture removed from a 1937 Calendar by "Wiggins, Teape & Alex. Pirie (Sales) Ltd." showing a Portrait Painting of "Mrs. Robinson- "Perdita."
Reynolds, Gainsborough and Romney, all painted portraits of this well known beauty in the character of "Perdita" from the "Winter's Tale."  Each picture reveals characteristics of the Artist, and the fact that it is difficult to conceive that they are all portraits of the same person, presents us with an example of the truth that a great portrait "Is not so much a faithful representation of the sitter as an expression of the artist hinself.
