John Hoppner, was born about 1758, in Whitechapel, of German Parentage. He became a chorister in the Chapel Royal, and in 1775 was nominated by George III as an Academy Student. Hoppner was elected an R.A. in 1793, and died in London in 1810. "As a painter of women his best work ran Reynolds close." Jane Elizabeth, daughter of Rev. James Scott, married in 1794 Edward, fifth Earl of Oxford. She died in 1824.
