One of the Most Popular Features of the Royal Military Tournament. 1900.

For Sale is a Full Page removed from "The Graphic, June 2nd, 1900," showing a Drawing by W. Small for "One of the Most Popuar Features of the Royal Military Tournament."

One of the novel and most popular items in the programme of this year's Tournament is the display of the 4.7 gun by the men of the Powerful.  The huge weapon is drawn into the arena by five couple of black, long-horned oxen, and slowly taken round by the barriers.  It is then cast loose from its limber in the centre of the oval.  Jack, having shown his capacity as a teamster, then turns his attention to the gun itself.  The piece is trained and fired twice, while a skirmishing line of the Excellent men spread out in front and fire brisk volleys from their carbines.  Then the Tars lay hold of the drag-ropes in a body, and the gun is rushed out of the arena in double-quick time.
