For Sale is a Full Page removed from "The Graphic, August 18th, 1900," showing a Drawing by F. H. Townsend, from a Sketch by E. Hosang, for "A New Game for Ladies : A Skittles Competition in Berlin."
In Germany skittles - or kegeln, as the game is termed - is a very popular sport, and every village boasts its skittles club. In Berlin the clubs hold an annual competition amongst themselves, and valuable prizes are awarded to the winners. A novelty has lately been introduced in the form of a competition for lady players, the prizes including gold watches, bracelets, and brooches. Many of the ladies play remarkably well, and their scores compare favourably with those of the men competitors.
