Shooting White Hares on the Ayrshire Hills. 1906.

These white or mountain hares are found on the very tops of the hills among the mosses and peat bogs, where the burns have their sauces.  When there is no snow on the ground they are distinguishable a long way off, as their white winter coats show up strongly against the dark peat and heather.  With snow, although their whereabouts is indicated by their footprints, it is much more difficult to find them on the white hills.

Condition is Very Good.
