   a- Death appears to claim the wretched and debased Rene Delorme (Mr. H. B. Irving), but "The Jury of Fate" decides to give the drunken wastrel another chance in a new life.  Rene : "Master, lead me into the light!"
   b- It is twenty-five years later, and Rene, now a celebrated author, is twenty-five years old. He is meeting Yvonne, a country girl (Miss Crystal Herne), for the first time. He attracts her away from her honest artisan lover, marries, and at once neglects her.
   c- The irreclaimable Renee leaves his young wife during their honeymoon to follow the first chance comer.
   d- Rene fortifying himself with drink against the coming of the dreaded "Stranger."
   e- The Vices of Renee at last cause his wife Yvonne, her old lover David, and Therese (for whom he had neglected Yvonne), to leave him alone.
   f- Yvonne declares her love for David just before Renee, appearing to shoot David for the imaginary theft of his wife, kills Yvonne instead. In the last scene Renee, having made a shocking use of his reincarnation, is duly claimed by Death.
