The basque game, "Pelota," which is a national pastime of Spain, was introduced last week at Olympia.  Six players contested the game, forming two sides of three each. A small ball is hurled at the wall shown in the picture from the basket or "chistera," fixed on the player's hand, and on rebounding, the ball must be caught in the "Chistera" of an opponent, who in turn hurls it back to the wall.  The ball must be taken on the volley or first bounce, and must then strike the wall more than three feet from the ground.  The ability of the players to take returns of lightning swiftness, at times when the ball was invisible to the majority of spectators, aroused the admiration of the visitors, who had also ample proof of the athletic nature of the sport.
