a- Eliza (Miss Eva Moore) comes to stay- at the flat of the fashionable bachelor, Sandy Verrall, to whom she has been left as a legacy "to be cherished." b- Eliza competes with the fiancee of Sandy for his affection, and is here seen challenging her tomprove her hair real, which, to Eliza's dismay, she does. Eliza : "This is a fight between us." Sandy : "whom for ?" Eliza : "You!" c- The transformation of Eliza, re-dressed, which makes her stay for life as the wife of Sandy. d- Sandy (Mr. H. V. Esmond) takes a bogus nap to rid his sight of the shabby workhouse girl, Eliza. e- Eliza, forced into an unwilling engagement with Montague Jordan (Mr. Eric Lewis), determines to return to her old costume, and thus puts Jordan to flight.
