Germanic Frightfulness at Sea : The Mining of the liner Malaga off Dover. 1916.

For Sale is a Full Page removed from "The Graphic, March 4th, 1916," called "Germanic Frightfulness at Sea," showing a Drawing by E. S. Hodgson, for "The Mining of the Liner Maloja off Dower."

On the eve of the New Frightfulness the mail steamer Maloja, the largest of the Peninsular Company's Fleet, struck a mine on Sunday morning, and foundered between Folkestone and Dover. Immediately the explosion occurred a crowd of tugs, pinnaces, destroyers and other craft rushed to her assistance, while the crowd, observing perfect discipline, proceeded to lower the boats. The heavy sea made rescue work very difficult, and of the total company of 456 persons 155 were lost, including 86 Lascars.
