The Hadley Wood Golf Club at Beech Hill Park is in one of the most attractive parts of Hertfordshire and its club house is an old hunting box of George III and stands on its own estate of 250 acres which is a part of the ancient Enfield Chase.  The site of one of the most important battles fought on English soil, Barnet, is hard by if anyone should hunger after historical research, and there is also wonderful Hatfield House, that ancient home of the Cecils.  Hadley has a membership of 700 all told and has one eighteen-hole and one nine-hole course, and though the soil is clay it is wonderfully dry owing to the elevation, about sea level.  The club "tiger," G. W. Cranfield, has won many cups and trophies, and in C. Lance Gamble, Hadley is very lucky in possessing a most efficient and popular secretary.
