The Offering in the Temple. 1842c.

For Sale is a Full Page removed from a "Series of Scripture Prints," By William Darton, showing a Half Page Hand Coloured Engraved Print, together with Half Page of Text from the Bible, called "The Offering in the Temple."  Luke ii.  21 to 24.

     And when eight days were ac-com-pkish-ed for the cir-cum-cis-ing of the child, his name was call-ed JE-SUS, which was so named of the an-gel be-fore he was con-ceiv-ed in the womb.
     And when the days of her pu-ri-fi-ca-ti-on ac-cord-ing to the law of Mo-ses were ac-com-plish-ed, they brought him to Je-ru-sa-lem, to pre-sent him to the Lord ;  
      (As it is writ-ten in the law of the Lord,  Ev-e-ry male that o-pen-eth the womb shall be call-ed ho-ly to the Lord;)
     And to of-fer a sa-cri-fice ac-cord-ing to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of tur-tle-doves,  or two young pi-ge-ons.

    And He-rod sent them to Beth-le-hem ;  and said, Go and search di-li-gent-ly for the young child ;  and when ye have found him,  bring me word a-gain, that I may come and wor-ship him al-so.
    When they had heard the King, they de-part-ed :  and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood o-ver where the young child was.
    When they saw the star, they re-joiced with ex-ceed-ing great joy.
     And when they were come in-to the house, they saw the young child with Ma-ry his mo-ther, and fell down, and wor-ship-ped him :  and when they had o-pen-ed their tre-asures, they pre-sent-ed un-to him gifts ; gold, and frank-in-cense, and myrrh.
