Joseph's Advancement. 1842c.

For Sale is a Full Page removed from a "Series of Scripture Prints," by William Darton, showing a Half Page Hand Coloured Engraved Print, together with a Half Page of Text from the Bible, called "Joseph's Advancement."  Genesis xli.  39 to 43.

And Pha-roah said un-to Jo-seph, for-as-much as God hath shew-ed thee all this, there is none so dis-creet and wise as thou art :
Thou shalt be o-ver my house, and ac-cord-ing un-to thy word shall all my peo-ple be rul-ed :  on-ly in the throne will I be great-er than thou.
And Pha-raoh said un-to Jo-seph, See, I have set thee o-ver all the land of E-gypt.
And Pha-raoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it up-on Jo-seph's hand, and ar-ray-ed him in vest-ures of fine lin-en, and put a gold chain a-bout his neck :
And he made him to ride in the se-cond cha-ri-ot which he had ;  and they cri-ed br-fore him,  Bow the knee :  and he made him ru-ler o-ver all the land of E-gypt.

And they sat down to eat bread :  and they lift-ed up their eyes, and look-ed, and, be-hold, a com-pa-ny of Ish-meel-ites came from Gil-e-ad, with their ca-mels bear-ing spice-ry and balm and myrrh, go-ing to car-ry it down to E-gypt.
And Ju-dah said un-to his breth-ren, What pro-fit is it if we slay our bro-ther, and con-ceal his blood ?
Come, and let us sell him to the Ish-meel-ites, and let not our hand be up-on him ;  for he is our bro-ther and our flesh.  And his breth-ren were con-tent.
Then there pass-ed by Mi-di-an-ites,  mer-chant-men ;  and they drew and lift-ed up Jo-seph out of the pit, and sold Jo-seph to the Ish-meel-ites for twen-ty piec-es of sil-ver :  and they brought Jo-seph in-to E-gypt.
