This is Plate VII. and shows the following Lithograph drawings by Day & Haghe Lithographers to the Queen. for  "Ornamented Wooden-Frame Buildings, from John Thorpe."

Nos. 1 and 2 are fac-similes of two of the most curious specimens of wooden architecture contained in Thorpe's Sketch Book.  No writing is upon the drawings, as is unluckily the case with the greater part of them.  From the careful manner in which the plans seem to have been considered, they were probably the actual residences of some of the gentry of the time.
No. 3 is the plan, on a reduced scale, of the first house.  The hall appears to be on the left of the entrance, the buttery and winter parlour leading out of it ;  the kitchen and servants' entrance are beyond ;  on the other side of the hall are the parlour and lodgings ;  twebty-six steps lead up to the great chamber on the first floor, the size of which appears to be indicated by the large group of windows in the centre of the elevation.
no. 4 is the plan of the second elevation ;  the writing in this is copied from Thorpe's plan.  The kitchens and offices are below.
No. 5, is a carved wooden ornament from the churchwardens' pew in St. Helen's Church, Bishopsgate.
