For Sale is a Full Page removed from "The Tatler, Spril 18th, 1934," called "Golf Clubs and Golfers," showing the Following Drawings by "Mel," for "The West Hove Golf Club."

   1- "Douglas"  D, F. Sundius Smith Captain 1917-18.  Twice Champion of Sussex.
   2- Fred J. Pettyfer, who has been secretary since 1910 when club started.
   3- Thomson, the Professional who joined in 1917.
   4- The oldest member John Davey.
   5- The Eleventh Green.
   6- Freddie Wells, Captain 1931.
   7- Dr. W. L. Watt, present Captain.
   8- "Billy" Moir, Captain 1925-6.
   9- The Hon. Treasurer, A. J. Clark, Captain 1924.

Ever since it was laid out by James Braid in 1910 the West Hove has had the luck to possess one of the best golf secretaries in the world, Mr. Fred Pettyfer-see "Mel's" excellent likeness above-for no one has a greater flair for management and organisation.  The course and the club house both take a power of beating, and not one of its least attractions is its delightful situation.  Unlike most downland courses, with little or no shelter from the unkindly blasts, West Hove is comparatively protected from the wild winds, and the holes at the beginning and at the end of the round are in a valley.  The chalk sub-soil keeps things well drained, and in even the wettest of winter weather the fairways dry quickly.  The total length of the course is 6,167 yards and the bogey or par is 75.
