Great Schools in Sport. No. 21.- St. Edward's. 1935.

For Sale are 3 Pages removed from "The Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News, March 15th, 1935," showing an Article called "Great Schools in Sport," this week the School is "St. Edward's". Artisle Written by E. W. Swanton, and shows the Following Photographs.

   a- St. Edward's :  Acomprehensive aerial view of St. Edward's, which was removed from New Inn Hall Street, Oxford, to Summertown in '73.   The school's property now amounts to a hundred acres.  The playing fields are situated on the left of the Woodstock Road and of this picture.

   b- Upper Field :  In all respects an excellent ground.  The light is good, the wickets fast and true.  The pavilion was given by the Old Boys' Society in 1933.

   c- Tubbing. :  Outside the boathouse.  St. Edward's appear annually at Henley in the Ladies' Plate.  The Boat Club dates from '74, but only in the last ten years has rowing been undertaken seriously.

   d- Rugby,  1930-31 :  A successful team which won thirteen matches ib succession,  V. H. Cooper,  P. C. Kendll,  P. H. Standfast,  G. M. Beal,  A. G. Butterworth,  C. M. C. Woodroffe,  J.    e- Cricket. :  A notable side which won all its matches.  Cranmer has since played for Warwickshire, and J. Butterworth for the Rest against the Lord's Schools.  :  R. M. A. Lawson,  R. W. W.    f- Football. :  Trinity College on the attack in a recent match against St. Edward's.  The school has always achieved efficiency at Rugby, and seven O.S.E. have gained International "Caps".

   g :  Swimming-Pool. :  St. Edward's possess a very fine outdoor swimming-pool as well as an indoor swimming-bath.  The picture was taken during a match between the school and Marlborough.

   h :  Quadrangle :  From the school entrance may be seen the chapel, cloisters, and Big School.  St. Edward's has, since the war, expanded from modest dimensions to a full strength of nearly four hundred.

   i :  P.T. :  An Inter-house P.T. competition in progress in the quadrangle.  St. Edward's won the Public Schools' P.T. Shield in 1928.
