The University Golf Match. : Cambridge v. Oxford. 1936.

Oxford, at the Royal Liverpool Club at Hoylake  &  The "Bystander" £500 Trophy Meeting at Felixstowe."

                               Cambridge v. Oxford at Hoylake.
1- The Foursomes :  A. A. Duncan studying the line before Putting on the Cop green. The hollow in the foreground gathers many shots which are a shade too strong and is very difficult to negotiate.

2- The Hilbre :  One of the greatestholes on these classic links.  There is a steep slope from left to right.  A. A. Duncan has just Putted.

3- The Alps :  Though many regret, for sentimental reasons, the passing of the old Alps green, the new hole is more in accordance with modern golf acrhitecture. it is a really testing one shotter.

4- The University Teams :  A combined Oxford and Cambridge group taken outside the Royal Liverpool Club-house on the occasion of the "Dinner Match" between the reserves of the two sides.

5- The Briars :  One of the most testing two-shot holes on the course.  To the left is the garden, which is out of bounds,  and the whins on the right continue right to the end of a long drive.  W. I. E. Thorburn is seen driving.

6- Waterlogged Hazards :  there was a tremendous amount of water in the bunkers at Hoylakae, and attempts to play out were seldon successful.  here is K. B. Scott playing from under the cop at the first, or Course, hole.

1- Four of the Lads :  E. M. Perry Knox-Gore, R. C. Robertson-Glasgow,  J. Dalmeyer,  and Captain Monty Ravenhill at the "Bystander" £500 trophy meeting at Felixstowe.  one suspects "Crusoe" of having cracked one of his quips.

2- "Bystander Finalists :  S. H. R. Hornby going out with Leonard Crawley, who is regarded as about the best of our amateur golfers at present.  Hornby received two strokes and won on the 16th green.  The competition for the "Bystander" £500 trophy took place at Felixstowe.
