A Great Athletic Meeting : Oxford beat Cambridge at the White City by 7 Events to 4. 1934.

For Sale are Two Pages removed from "The Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News, March 17th,1934," called "A Great Athletic Meeting," showing the Following 10 Photographs.

   1- The First Event of the day went to Cambridge through the brilliant running of her President, E. I. Davis, who ran the 100 yards in 10 sec., a time only once beaten in these sports.  C. J. E. Betty, also of Cambridge, was some four feet behind him.

   2- The Leap of 22 feet 10 inches by J. C. Horsfall, by which he took the Long Jump.  K. S. Duncan, of Oxford, was only 2 inches behind him.

   3- C. F. Stanwood the triple winner in 1933 and 1934, leading at the first flight of the high hurdles, which he won in 14-  9.10ths of a second.  His second string A. G. Pilbrow, although very close to Stanwood, was disqualified for knocking down three hurdles.

   4- After a long and close contest with G. P. Wiles, of Cambridge, W. H. Elkins (Oxford) cleared 11 feet 3 inches to win an unexpected victory in the pole vault.

   5- No record for J. E. Lovelock, holder of a wonderful world's record for the mile, but a full blue for A. B. Leach (No. 17), who dead-heated with him in the mile in 4 mins. 23 seconds.

   6- N.P. Hallowell, of Oxford, winning the half-mile from his gallant Cambridge rival, J. C. Stothard.  Hallowell ran a perfectly judged race and finished in 1 min. 54 secs., a new record for this event and the only actual record cut at the meeting.

   7- A Fine Weight-Putter from Turkey.  A. Irfan won this event for Cambridge with a putt of 42 feet 6.5 inches, only Three-Quarters of an inch more than that of the Oxford-American, F. A. S. Gentry.

   8- C. O. Healey winning the 3 miles in the fine time of 14 mins 49 secs.  Healey led the race almost all the way and set a fast pace for his Cambridge rival, P. D. Ward.

   9- D. L. Rathbone (33),  the second string, winning the quarter for Cambridge in the good time of 49. 3/5 Seconds.  J. C. Horsfall, Cambridge, was only inches behind, while J. A. Judson, of Oxford, was three yards behind Horsfall. The time has only once been beaten.

10- C. F. Stanwood demonstrating the "Western Roll,"  by which technique he won the high jump at 5 feet 10 inches.  He made one attempt at the record 6 feet 3 inches, and then left to fulfil other engagements in another part of the ground.
