An English Ballet Product who Dances at the Adelphi : Pearl Argyle. 1932.

For Sale is a Full Page removed from "The Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News, February 13th, 1932," called "Decoration and the Drama," showing a Photograph of "An English Ballet Product who Dances at the Adelphi :  Pearl Argyle."

An English Ballet Dancer, the pupil of a London school, and therefore something of a rare avis of the higher grades of the art, appears in the classical burlesque, "Helen!" at the Adelphi Theatre.  Pearl Argyle formerly studied with the Marie Rambert dancers, and it was during a recent season of ballet, with Karsavina heading the bill, at the New Theatre, that she first attracted the attention of C. B. Cochran.  Her part in "Helen!" followed.  Mme. Marie Rambert, who founded the dancing school from which Pearl Argyle graduated, is, in private life, the wife of Ashley Dukes, playwright and former dramatic critic of this paper.

Last Monday, Mr. George E. T. Eyston, driving an M.G. Midget car on the sands at Pendine, Carmarthenshire,  set up a new world's record for "Baby" cars.  Viscount Ridley's old figures of 105 miles per hour were beaten by no less than 13 miles, for Mr. Eyston drove his M.G. at a mean speed of 118.38 miles per hour, with a fastest run of slightly under 120.  There was some casual water on the sands and visibility was not good, while the driver, who wore an asbestos suit as a protection against fire, did one run which was not timed because the ink had run out of the timing chart recorder.  The little carsat down well on the sands and was so low to the ground that occasionally it seemed to be submerged by the water it sent spouting up.  Undoubtedly two miles a minute could be attained under better track conditions.
