The Cottesmore. 1938. (Hunting).

For Sale are Two Full Pages removed from "The Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News, February 11th, 1938," showing a Hunting Article with the Following Photographs for "The Cottesmore."

   1- Off to Gunby gorse :  The Cottesmore moving off to the first draw, a piece of rough and thorny ground next to Gunby Gorse, after meeting at Thistleton. in the Thursday country.  In the foreground are the Master and huntsman, Mr. C. C. Hilton Green, and the Hon. Secretary, Major T. F. Cavenagh, in bowler hat.

   2- Is It Straight In Front ? :  Captain John Player runs a critical eye over a hound which seems to expect a more chariitable intention.

   3- Away From Gunby Gorse :  Some lucky ones who were well away after the first fox from Gunby Gorse, which was headed and so crossed the road a few hundred yards further up than he had meant to.  This is one of the few pictures we remember of a shire field crashing along over a typical Leicestershire fence.

   4- Sporting Parson :  The Rev. Taylor, of Oakham, represented the Church.  We have too few sporting parsons and too many cranks nowadays.

   5- The Hon. Secretary :  Major T. F. Cavenagh, of steeplechasing fame, who has been Hon. Secretary of the Cottesmore for some years, with his eldest daughter.

   6- Powder and Fuse :  Captain Noel Newton smokes a cigarette while Miss D. Dixon applies that extra last-minute polish before getting mounted.

   7- Conversation :  Sir Richard Molyneux, who is Lord Sefton's uncle, snapped in conversational mood at the meet at Thistleton.

   8- Marked to Ground :  The field after a fox had gone to ground in a railway embankment by Cribb's Lodge.  This was the second one of the day's card,  the first having  given an enjoyable hunt. 

   9- The First "Lep" :  Miss Lopes and, we think, Miss Bellville, daughter of Captain George Bellville, although she is rather far away to make certain, take the fence by the road during the first hunt from Gunby Gorse.

  10- Forrard Away ! :  Hounds are streaming away out of the picture on the left and the field are just getting into their stride as the second fox from Gunby Gorse, this time uunheaded by bicyclists, points for Marriott's Spinney.

Condition is Very Good.
