   a- The Nomination Race :  Some of the field of twelve at the first fence in the Nomination Race, won by Mr. T. Holland Martin on his Young Turk from D. Audrey's Ballyreaske, ridden by Mr. F. Jones, and Mr. G. N. Wilson on his Trembler.  Young Turk's three-lengths victory will, we expect, prove the forerunner of another successful season for the Holland Martin family, Mr. E. Holland Martin winning the Past and Present Race on Safety Pin.

   b- Start of the Cup :  The leaders in a field of nine taking the first fence in the New College and Magdalen Challenge Cup.  The New College and Magdalen meeting was held at Enstone, near Chipping Norton.

   c- Grand Stand :  Miss Auriol Harbord and Mr. Alan Palmer find an agricultural roller convenient for watching the races.

   d- Going,  Going :  Mr. D. J. Riddingford's Billy Darling makes a bloomer in the New College and Magdalen Challenge Cup.

   e- The Last Straw :  The Hon. J. J.  Astor leads over the final fence before winning the New College and Magdalen Cup on his La Gazze.  On the left is Mr. P. Fielden on Major E. A. Fielden's Crickden, who fell at this fence, but was remounted and finished third to Mr. I. Farquhar on his Adam.
