Scotland not good enough : England the Soccer Champions. 1932.

For Sale is a Full Page removed from "The Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News, April 16th, 1932," called "Scotland not good enough :  England the Soccer Champions," Showing the Following Two Photographs, with Text below.

   1- The Scottish Defence Penetrated :  England Through at Wembley, but the shot hit the cross-bar and rebounded into play.
   2- All in the Game :  Waring and Hamilton in Collision, when the latter threw himself on the ball to stop the english centre.

England easily beat Scotland in the soccer international at Wembley and thus won the championship, which rested between these two for both sides had previously beaten Ireland and Wales.  The Scottish team was not the strongest side that could have been fielded, otherwise England's task would not have been so simple. Some of their greatest players were debarred from inclusion because they play for English League Clubs.   the Stadium was nearly filled to capacity with a crowd of over ninety thousand people watching the match.  As the result of the collision between Waring and Hamilton shown in our lower picture, both players had to be treated for their injuries and the latter was slightly disabled for the rest of the match.

   1- Winner of the 1.000 mile Road Race at Brescia :  Borzacchini, the Italian Driver, in his 2.300 c.c. Eight-Cylinder Alfa-Romeo.
   2- The 1.000 mile Road-Race course finished after crashing into a River-bed at 70 m.p.h.: Mr. Brian Lewis in his "105" Talbot.
   3- The British Driver in a French Car at Montlhery Establishes Four New World Records :  Mr. George Eyston on his Panhard.
   4- Streamlining  for Motor-Cycle Racing :  Mr. Alan Bruce ready to attempt a new Speed Record for Motor-Cycles in Vienna.
   5- The Record Breaker's unceremonious arrival "  Mr. J. A. Mollison's overturned Puss-Moth which crashed on the beach at Cape Town.

There were several serious accidents during the 1,000 mile road-race in North Italy, won by Borzacchini and Bifnami in an Alfa-Romeo, which averaged 68.2 m.p.h.  The British driver, Brian Lewis, crashed in his Talbot into a dry river-bed when travelling at a great speed, but with the help of spectators got his car back on to the road and finished the course.  Mr. George Eyston's four new records, set up at Montlhery in a Panhard, were 131.67 m.p.h. for the 100 miles, 131.80 m.p.h. for the 100 kilometres, 131.13 for the 200 Kilometres, and 130.73 miles for the hour.  A strong cross wind was blowing at the time.
