Orwell takes the Stage for 1932 : The Favourite Wins the Greenham Plate.

Following their disappointment at not seeing Cameronian race at Lingfield, two days later racegoers who also went to Newbury had the consolation of seeing Orwell, the crack two-year-old of 1931, in action for the first time this year.  Mr. W. M. G. Singer's colt by Gainsborough-Golden Hair won the Greenham Plate there readily enough.  He claims now to be regarded as the 2,000 Guineas winner, if not of the Derby also.

   a- Orwell beating Mr. A. F. Basset's Tolvadden by half a length, with H.H. the Aga Khan's Firdaussi third.
   b- Mr. W. M. G. Singer is seen giving her husband's classic favourite a congratulatory pat after the race.
