Chelsea Hold the Arsenal : Fulham's Bid for Promotion. 1932.

   a- Chelsea about to score :  A Pass to Gallacher resulted in a shot which the Arsenal Goalkeeper could not reach.

   b- The Soccer Bombardment at Fulham :  Iceton,  in Goal for Fulham, dives to turn one of the Watford shots round the Goalposts.

The chances of the Arsenal's retaining the championship of the League were diminished when they were only able to draw their home match with Chelsea.  In the absence of James, the champions' attack was not so incisive as formerly, and was firmly held by the Chelsea defence.  It was also a great day for Gallacher, at centre-forward, who several times eluded the vigilant Roberts-once to score.  The result was one goal each.  Meanwhile Fulham strengthened their hold on the leadership of the southern section of the Third Division by beating Watford by five goals to nil.  Fulham are now in a very strong position and, given reasonable luck, certain of promotion.
