Sea-Trout Fishing in the Sea off the Scotch Coast. 1905.

This style of sport is practised in the bays at the mouths of the rivers and streams running into the Moray Firth.  A salmon or grilse rod is used, and it is necessary to cast a long line,as the fish are very shy of rising near the boat.  A strip of gurnet skin or an indiarubbber sand-eel is the best lure, and on a favourable day good sport is to be had.
