For Sale is a Full Page taken from "The Sphere, October 17th, 1903," showing a Drawing by N. Hadden called "A Study in Stripes," showing "Mountain Zebras Playing at the Zoo."
If you go to the Zoo you will unhappily not see these two zebras playing, for the female died last April. She was born in the Amsterdam Zoological Gardens in the autumn of 1897, and Mr. Thomson brought her from there in May, 1898. The male was purchased from a dealer in May, 1899, and was imported direct from the Cape. The two when they were together represented a cash value of £500. Mountain zebras are getting extremely rare.
